Did Chrysler ever had a contract to build 1911A1's?

For the life of me I cannot remember.

Google is not being my friend this morning.

He claims that it was not a Singer, Ithaca, Remington, or anything like that.

Ithaca and Remington-Rand other than Colt were the
companies that made the majority of 1911A1s during
WWII. I think Singer made aprox. 800 and then switched
to something else making them vary rare.

Chrysler or a subsidiary has made a heck of a lot of
tanks and armored vehicles for the US Military as well as
export over the decades.

Colt, Remington Rand [a business machine company] and Ithaca were the main 1911A1 suppliers for WWII.

Union Switch & Signal [railway signal manufacturer] made approximately 55,000 as well.

Singer [the sewing machine company] made about 500.

Nothing from Chrysler.... ;)
