Anybody else having problems with Kimbers mags? I bought six Wilson's but I'd still like to get my moneys worth out of the ones I bought with the gun. I have sent back two of them, still waiting for one. Today I tried the brand-new replacement and it was junk also.It would not accept the first round, the follower gets jammed up with the mag body. Another problem is that the follower rocks forward as the slide tries to strip the new round jamming the round down into the well. Whats up with that? I noticed that the Wilson's are designed not to rock forward. I have an older Kimber mag. 1999 and one can feel that its better than the new ones.

There are some folks here who just adore the shooting star follower mags (what Kimber uses). I'm not one of them. I actually removed the follower and spring on the few I had and installed 7-round Pachmayr followers instead. The only 8-rounders that seem to work well in my experience are the Wilson and copies (Les Baer, etc.).

yeah just go to www.wilsoncombat.com and order soem7/8 rd follower/spring replacements. they run about $8-9 and supposedly make them run like a wilson. try it out. i'm going to once i get my royal outta kali hold.
Yeah I used wilson spring and follower in my kimber magand it worked just as good as my wilson mags.Wilson spring and follower #266,45 8rd.
Nice tip on Wilson the bits!

Which base pads do you prefer on your mags for CCW - standard, low profile or ultra low profile?

Does your rationale change if you shoot IDPA and use it for CCW?
I have the gold combat so I use standard or extended base pads to really slam that magazine home so I have no feeding problems.

It doesn't look like Wilson sells "Officer" springs?! Did I miss it or what?!

I might just have to break down and get a Wilson mag, but in the meantime my Kimber mags are working absolutely fine [knock on wood].
I have never had a jam with the kimber mags. The only jams I have had in my kimber compact have occured with the wilson mags.
I have three of the original Kimber mags, and they all started out fine, but after time they jam up as stated here. The follower sticks in the magazine body and prevents a round from feeding properly. Annoying, and potentially very dangerous, if the timing is bad.

I've never had a problem with my Kimber mag. Then again, I've never had a mag problem with any of my 1911s, other than an 8 round MecGar. Even that mag seems to be coming around after some usage.

Cheap mag, expensive mag, they all work. Must be a karma thing.

I have the original Kimber mag and a Shooting Star mag. Both work great.

I have a Wilson Combat 8 round on order. I hope it works as well.

Kimbers are shipped with either Metalform or Mec-Gar. Who ever makes Kimber the best deal. Source for this was Kimber tech department.
my factory mag works as well as my wilson 4D7, feeds every time. I will say the factory mag has no bumd pad and does not feel as smooth as the wilson, but my wilson rattles when full.

No problem with 2 Kimber mags, Wilson 47D, nor McCormick Powermags.

Guess I'm lucky!
Put me down as another Wilson mag believer!
WILSON'S ARE THE KING OF MAGS, BUT I JUST TOOK MY ROYAL II OUT AND THE KIMBER MAG WORKED JUST FINE. I WAS WAITING FOR IT TO GIVE IN, BUT IT DIDN'T WANNA. NOT TO SAY IT WON'T EVENTUALLY. PROBABLY NEVER GOING TO FIND OUT...I'M ORDERING WILSON SPRING/FOLLOWERS AND REPLACING ALL OF MY KIMBER MAGS' INNARDS.
I am not fond of Wilson but they work most of the time. So do my factory kimber magazines.

I have never had a problem out of McCormick shooting star .45 magazines. I have never seen a Kimber new in the box with one. The Kimber magazines I have seen look like McCormick outwardly but the don't have the 8 round follower wiith the LOGo on it.

On the other hand, can't say that I have good experience (100% reliability) with anyt 9mm or 38 super magazines (Wilson, McCormick, you name it)
