I'm planning to do a long term project by starting with a GI spec. 1911 and gradually adding custom features. By now I'm sure of what I will and won't be able to do, based on my skills, knowledge and tools. The only thing I'm doubtful about is cutting a relief at the trigger guard/front strap junction to allow the gun to sit lower in my hand. I haven't ever seen any specs or instructions for this cut and just cranking up the Dremel and grinding away doesn't appeal to me. Anyone know of a source for this info? Is this something I should leave to a 'smith with a proper milling machine?

Thanks for any info or pointers.
