Just wondering if anyone has any FIRST HAND (not hear-say) experience with the cylinder and slide 1911 class. Specifically, I'd like to know if it is worth the time and money. I look forward to the responses- thanks guys and gals.
I attended the class a few years ago and I'd recommend it as a good primer to 1911 gunsmithing. You should have a thorough knowledge of 1911 pistol operation and a grasp on the use of the tools involved especially filing. Do not expect to leave the class with a finished pistol however as there's not enough time; we did not have a chance to test fire our pistols although mine functioned fine when I got it home. Many of us made a mistake fitting the duckbill safety that I felt should have been foreseen by the instructors. As I said it's a good beginning to pistolsmithing the 1911 with minimal handtools and Bill is a great guy but it only scratches the surface and it's pricey.
