Colt might be able to sell to foreign military markets but they won’t be making much more money off the US Military.

the US Army is currently working with three entities to develop the new infantry rifle and Colt isn’t one of them. Neither is FN. the three players are Textron, SIG Sauer and General Dynamics (with Beretta’s involvement).

The US Marine Corps is buying HK-made M27 to replace the M4 as their main infantry rifle.

I agree, but do not forget that there is life outside the US, Colt si selling well their products overseas. Anyway I am pretty sure CZ will use Colt to compete for US military trials in the future

CZ is the same company that sold that piece of crap. I was just on their website where it states the Mallard was discontinued in 2015. Don't be telling me it ain't the same company. I bought that piece of crap from the same company that sells your wonderful Dan Wesson.

When did I say it wasn't the same company? Most companies these days sell stuff from all over the world....some good....some bad. Seeing that it was discontinued shows me that CZ, to their credit, got rid of a crappy Turkish made shotgun that did not live up to their standards. Judging a company as a whole from one bad experience is understandable, but CZ's products by and large are very good Quality. Buying a shotgun such as the Mallard on price point, where such shotguns of any quality start north of 1K, comes with some risk.

Czech Republic is now a democratic country and a NATO Ally. They are more free than you think of comparing to most all of the Western European socialist countries.

The Czech Republic is probably more free than Connecticut. The Czechs actually have their own version of a right to bear arms and they have a pretty strong gun culture... at least for Europe.

I will say even more, the Czech Republic is a much nicer place to live than some States of the Union. Imaging living in a place with no liberal media, without elites trying to slave you and your brain, a place not invaded by aliens....what a nice place to live...the Czech Republic is a sample of what was Europe before WWII, before we lost the war..

I spent some time in Prague several years ago. Very nice city...clean...happy. I was very comfortable there.

CZ has been working on the Arkansas $90 million facility since 2018/19 I think the news says, so before this deal was known of, at least publicly. Would be interesting to know how long they have been eyeing Colt. Or WHO else.

Folks, please do not get me wrong, I still think rural western States (Montana, Wyoming and parts of Idaho and Utah) are still the best places to spend a life. Frankly, I miss Utah a lot but last time I was there (a couple of years ago) I was confused, many new comers, a lot of new houses and cars, a lot of liberals from CA, a lot of minorities, crime and political correctness..it is not longer the Utah of 20 years ago.. Utah is becaming a second California within a decade or so..
Said that, the Czech Republic is a pretty nice place, maybe the best place of Europe.

Central European countries are nice places to visit, no crime, no refugees, no liberal policies and very good hard working honest people. I can not say the same about us, Western Europe. Here in the west our way of life and culture has been destroyed by liberal and socialist policies. My counsel, do not visit us, instead of it go on vacation to central Europe.

As a 1911 enthusiast- I love this... the choices were Colt resurrected under CZ or a firesale of old equipment and no more colt.

CZ is great, stand alone, but as a Dan Wesson customer, I don't like it because DW has slipped A LOT in the last few years under CZ.

DW, like all 1911 manufacturers has a few bugs. My Valor is the model year known to be the best of the best Valors. It shot retardedly low.

DW has improved since CZ got involved. Also, if you look closely, CZ has improved a ton as well. High quality DW style checkering on their TS2 pistols. This is going to be huge for Colt. Possibly a chance for CZ to make more competitively priced1911's.

The projected cost of the DWX's is a bargain compared to 2011 type pistols.

I'm pretty Bummed out, I own more Colts than any other brand.
Doesn't seam right a Foreign gun company owning a American Icon.

CZ clearly has their hearts in this, and is clearly listening to what people want. Not to mention that their pistols are ruling Uspsa right now.

Not very promising with CZ viewing current Colt management competent and no change required. I will give them benefit of doubt until seeing how well Colt perform under CZ ownership. Will closely watch for CZ financial reporting in the next few quarters.

Czechoslovakia was invaded by Soviet Russia. They had no choice. Now they're free, and you'd like them more than half of this country. Don't judge them so soon. Some of the best machinists in the world.


I'd love to see a Colt branded DWX, Bren 308, and maybe an Alien copy.

Wonder if they want to make a battle rifle for the US military? Would it be too late to get in on the Sig, GD, competition?

I have to politely disagree. I also believe CZ is doing well and said so... my issue is as a DW customer. From a business standpoint i'm SURE they are more profitable under CZ. But the cust svc has gone to the birds. I'm stunned at how many guns make multiple trips back for the same issue unfixed. That's not an old trait- that's in the last couple years. And considering you never even used to hear about the cust svc, I venture many more guns going back these days, if you can get a call or email back.

Like I said- "As a 1911 enthusiast- I love this..." I have HIGH HOPES for Colt... and hope that they get it turned around.

I do hope DW also turns it around... but I'm leaving that for others to decide... my DW dollars are being redirected. However, as one who's gun made multiple trips back for the same issue and I still had to take it to a smith- I'll reserve the right to bitch and moan on occasion, at least until I get my out of pocket money's worth!

Too late. Decision will be casted this year to pick one of the three contenders (Textron, GD, SIG). Colt never had a product to compete.

While I don't have a CZ, I always found the history of the vz58 interesting and have one of those (along with a vz61). Even when under the Soviet thumb, they were still their own people.
