We just got in a 5" blue Dam Wesson 1911 at the shop I work at. It is retailing for $415! This model looks to be loaded with all the goodies needed on this type of firearm. Novak sights, grip safety etc. Does anybody have any experience with this makers 1911? If so, what are your thoughts? Is it as good a piece as it looks and feels? Any input is much appreciated!

Which model is it?

Pointman Major, Pointman Minor or Pointman Guardian Duce?
http://www.danwessonfirearms.com/

I've heard very good things about the Pointman Major and the Pointman Guardian Duce. Judging by the price you mentioned, I would assume it to be the Pointman Minor.

I've heard poor things about the Pointman Minor. Although I haven't used one to formulate my own opinion. There was some thread on the "Other 1911's" forum, that can give you some insight.

I really like the company, very prompt customer service and they're located near where I grew up. I hope they do well, and I assume they are doing well as I'm told they can't supply for the demand fast enough.

Guys, my girlfriend and I each have a pointman major, hers in 9mm and mine in .45ACP. We love them and have been very impressed with both guns. I have an issue of Combat Handguns in which the major is reviewed, and currently the issue on the newstand reviews the gaurdian duce. Both reviews are very good. It seems from reading the reviews that it took a little bit for DW to work out the bugs but I think they are on the right track now. My friends who are Kimber owners like my major, and I think it is comparable to Kimber in terms of finish.

I have been won over by the superior customer service of DW. Plus I think it is cool to get in on DW products now before they get more popular, I know it sounds goofy but its cool to have something a little different.

here is a pic of our guns, her two-tone gun looks dull in the pick but is the same rich black as the gun on the right.
