I like all of them equally. The most accurate models (for me) have been the PM-3, the Government size Vigil, then the Specialist. My sentimental favorite is the Vigil. (It was my first Dan Wesson.)
The DW model that has been the most versatile for me has been the .38 Super Guardian. That pistol has a bobbed aluminum frame that is light, 9+1 capacity and very concealable. This is a plus, especially this time of year. However, because it is light, it requires a little more practice to shoot accurately compared to my other steel framed 1911's.
I have 2 DW a Guardian in 9mm and a full size Vigil in 45ACP. I love them both. They are still relatively new and past their break in. Although I do shoot the Guardian way more than the Vigil, only because it will be my carry pistol, they are both way more accurate than I will probably ever be.
Thanks for everyones response. I have 2 Vigils in 45acp and I have found that my Guncrafter's full size in 45acp is a little more accurate. I'm taking another Kyle Defoor course on August 1st and 2nd and am trying to figure out which the most accurate is at 25yrds.
I would trust every one of the Dan Wessons in our collection with my life. So far, all of them have been well made and accurate. We have several models including the Vigil, Guardian, Pointman, Specialist and ECO. (Chambered in either .45 acp, 9mm, and .38 Super. )
What he said. My current experience with Dan Wesson is:
+ Guardian - bobtail, aluminum frame 9mm CDR - my EDC.
+ Valor V-Bob - all stainless, bobtail, 9mm CDR - replacement in case I lose my EDC
+ Valor TEXAS edition - all stainless standard 9mm CDR with Texas laser 'art'
+ Wraith - All steel suppressor-ready Govt 9mm
+ Razorback - all stainless Govt 10mm
+ Bruin - all steel 6" 10mm
As you can see, I have no 45's - 9 is <45 for carry and 10 is >45 for woods
Every one of them is a joy to shoot. Every one is more accurate than I am. But, of these 5, the Bruin is the most purely accurate with the right loads.
