My colt had some premature lock backs (2 out of 438 rounds) and I saw some copper marks on the slide stop so I took out the file and...

So now with the mag partially in to show the closest the round will come to touching it.

Did I remove too much? I was thinking that only the bottom part of it which engages the follower and the top part is important, but I'm not an expert so...

What say you?

Dunno, haven't shot it since. Will test with 200-300 rounds on Tuesday.

I might have also mis-diagnosed the malfs. Might have been inertia feeds.:mummy:

No need to shoot it. Stick an empty mag in there, pull the slide back and see if the slide stop does it's job. If it still locks back, then no, you didn't ruin it.

It functions normally with an empty mag. I didn't remove any metal from the bottom where it interacts with the mag follower.
