I'm thinking about building a 4" carry gun. i see lots of steel frames in Brownells, but no alloy frames. An alloy caspian would be a good start I'd think. BD
Baer offers them and you can order them from Baer or special order them from Brownells.
From the LBC web site:
BAER AEROSPACE ALUMINUM LIGHTWEIGHT FRAMES, .45 ACP FEED RAMP
Standard 1911, Commanche Size or Stinger Size, In The White (not pictured)
Available as 1911 Lightweight Match Frame with .250 radius cut and checkered front strap @ 30 lpi
You didn't show the price.
$475 retail, $380 wholesale from Brownell.
Apparently they stock the aluminum frames only with every option Baer has.
Titianium from Caspian is $300 and will weigh only about an ounce more. I think the Baers are nicer made, but that much?
I purchased a aluminum frame from Caspian last year for $99 plus shipping/transfer fee. Caspian had them on sale and I still see the same frames for sale at gun shows here in AZ for like $110. You might give Gary at Caspian a call to see if he still has some, you never know, if not he might know of a source that bought a bunch from him when he had them on sale.
