Hey guys, just cleaned my new EDC X9 and I’m not sure which way the recoil spring goes. One side is flat and one side spring comes to a point. The manual shows it both ways I think? Please help!

Awesome thanks guys, I just bought a small back strap for this as I just can’t quite reach mag release without changing my grip. You guy use right thumb on safety while shooting as a “gas petal”? Kind of forces an awkward grip for me, another reason I ordered the small back strap.

I have large, thin hands and have always used the small backstrap on mine. I have a large but it never felt comfortable. I think most of us shoot with right thumb on top of the safety but more as part of a “proper“ 1911 grip than as a gas pedal. Although I believe in an extremely firm grip, neither of my thumbs add much at all to it. I also have to change my grip slightly to release the mag on all my 1911’s. Not sure many can do so without a slight change.

Nobody except for a couple of bass players I know can reach the mag release or the slide stop without changing their grip - it's made that way so you don't hit them unintentionally. Use your other hand to trip the mag release and slide stop. Maintaining your firing hand grip is very crucial.

Mag release should be depressed with you strong hand thumb, even if you have to shift your grip. Slide release should be depressed with you support hand as you get the gun back on target.

I know 1911 history pretty well, but I still cannot figure it out why this pistol was perfectly made for left handed shooters.:LOL:;)

I disagree.
Mag release should be depressed with strong hand middle finger without changing the grip.
Slide release should be depressed with trigger finger just before it comes back to the trigger guard.

I'm so grateful to JMB for making his 1911 platform working this way !
