I know 1911 history pretty well, but I still cannot figure it out why this pistol was perfectly made for left handed shooters.Nobody except for a couple of bass players I know can reach the mag release or the slide stop without changing their grip - it's made that way so you don't hit them unintentionally. Use your other hand to trip the mag release and slide stop. Maintaining your firing hand grip is very crucial.
I disagree.Mag release should be depressed with you strong hand thumb, even if you have to shift your grip. Slide release should be depressed with you support hand as you get the gun back on target.
Mag release should be depressed with strong hand middle finger without changing the grip.
Slide release should be depressed with trigger finger just before it comes back to the trigger guard.
I'm so grateful to JMB for making his 1911 platform working this way !
