I hear you can't hard chrome over aluminum....for an aluminum framed gun, would electroless nickel be my best bet?

Im not a metalurgist at all, however I do not believe you can do anything much to aluminum save anodizing maybe park. My question would be why? It's already as corrosion resistant as you can get. What is the end goal?

It's not for the anodized part. It is a 442 smith and the cylinder and barrel (which show the wear) are blue so it would need a finish that matches...

You can definitely "hard chrome" over aluminum. Cast or billet. The problem you'll end up having is peeling and pitting.
