Is there something I could have done to the safety on my emp so it doesnt dig in to my side while carring it, sorry for the stupid ?'s im new the the 1911 so im sure i'll have a lot of them. Thank you.
1. Replace it with another brand.
2. Have the existing one smoothed and refinished.
Personally, I think option #1 is the better choice. You can choose exactly the kind of thumb safety you want. Fitting a thumb safety isn't too hard. You just need to file very slowly and test the fit as you go.
I chose the second option. I took a file to both sides and then sent it to SA for refinishing. They did it in less than a week and didn't charge me.
I would also recommend a holster with the body shield to keep it from digging in to your side. I preferred to keep the ambi safety because I can check to make sure it is still on-safe with the outside safety. Works well for me.
