engraving magazines

This idea came up vis-a-vis the upcoming gift giving season and I just wanted to consult you guys before I asked around town:

Could I take a Wilson magazine and have the side engraved with a name or message? Is the metal too thin for this or do you think it would have some manner of adverse affect on it?
Thanks

It might be too thin for the hammer and chisel engraving. If you can find some one that does laser engraving, it should work. Tool shops used to have an electric etching process where a logo, size, message, name etc was typed or written on a stencil and then the stencil was used to mark the metal object using acid and electrical current.

I write my name on the sides of my wilsons with a electric pencil engraver, works very well.
