Has anybody noticed which aftermarket barrels have the most material left on them for fitting (particularly on the bottom lugs)?

I am planning on fitting the hood and bottom lugs using the Bridgeport and some homemade fixtures and would just as soon have extra material.

I'm sure most gunsmith fit barrels would work fine, but I'm just curious as to how much this varies.

Thanks,
Steve

Most gunsmith fit barrels have a lot of extra material. Never measured them but, guessing 0.030 to 0.040" extra. I just installed the Schuemann AET 6" bull barrel in a caspian and it had exactly 0.010" on the hood length, width and also 0.01 on the underlug. Easily the best barrel I've found. Paul
