new compact SA; had just fired all rnds and took out mag, inserted new (full,6rnd mag) and gave it a slap (somewhat stronger than usual) to assure proper placement. this, instantainiously resulted in the slide being released, chambering new rnd ...much to my suprise! (never happened with GI issue). anyone have this experience? comments?...

Check the slide stop pin and the recess it drops into...May be a small lip or burr...may also need re-shaping just a bit...

same thing happens to me with my full size loaded but only when i hold the pistol barrel up and or sideways. kepp it level and no problem

sideways...yea I was holdin sideways, tilted a good 45degrees...
