I have a Kimber Compact. It requires a "take-down tool"(bent paper clips work) to retain the recoil spring and guide assembly while taking the gun apart. Is this normal? Do all compacts require this? What about fullsize?
Not all compacts require that setup. It is the way Kimber thought was best. Many people don't like the extra tool or extra step anywhere in the 1911 regine, but I really don't find such to be a problem. It is an extra step, but not brain surgery.
