Firing Pin Safety

I just bought an Ultra Carry. I also just learned of the new safety. I was wandering if anyone can tell me the difference in the safeness of the guns. Mine is the series I gun. What are the chances of the hammer falling in a drop or other similar accident. Also when firing the last round the slide will only sometimes stay open. what can be done to fix this. Thanks,

Wade

In theory, there's zero chance that the Series II will fire if dropped (assuming everything works as intended). OTHO, there's some non-zero chance your Series I will fire if dropped. My WAG is that it's much less than 1%, but others probably have better estimates. I have a Series I Kimber and a Series 80 Colt, and I don't worry about either firing if dropped. Not that I've ever dropped them.

As to the slide not locking back, I would first try a different mag if you haven't already done so.

Thanks for the help. This gun is for my wife and I want it to be as dependable and safe as possible. There are so many guns and opinions that it's hard to choose. I plan on my next gun also being a Kimber.
