I got the Wolff 18.5lb recoil spring for my new FN HP SA. How necessary is it to also use the extra power firing pin spring that comes with it? I'm wondering if it will cause problems or not.

Hello. Your pistol has the internal firing pin safety so it's not necessary to change it unless you prefer to do so. I've also used the standard factory firing pin spring when I've replaced the 17-lb recoil spring with a Wolff 18.5-lb in Hi Powers w/o the internal firing pin safety. No primer marks.
I usually change them out, but have NOT seen a safety issue when I've not. That does not mean that something bad couldn't happen if the pistol does not have
the internal pin safety.

Best.
