Well, the reason i suggested punch & hammer is simple:
If the tip is broken off, it's already shorter; if it's snarled up with the spring and won't depress, the punch will definitely move it's lil' ass outta' the way.​

That said, I never sent stuff in for "service" or "warranty", and would not want that much down-time. YMMV

My conclusion is that if the tip and rear of the firing pin do not move simultaneously they cannot be connected to each other.
Heh... I really enjoyed reading that.. I was thinkin' "well, unless he's got the stage-magician box and saw..." ;-)
