Just bought my first Colt 1911 last week and while doing research on the net, I found the 1911 Forum. What a great source for information on all aspects of Colt's finest pistol, so I joined and thought I'd share some pictures and get your thoughts. The pistol is a 1981 production year Government Model Mark IV Series 70 unmodified and used but not abused.

It has some small light scratches and rubs and most of the bluing on the barrel has been rubbed off.

It has the original collet bushing intact. I field stripped, cleaned and lubricated it. Checked for cracks and signs of any problems using guides I found either here or on other sites and found no problems. I also completed a safety function check with no problems.

The pistol came with no box or papers, but did have a 50 round Winchester yellow box full of 185 gr. Silver Tips and a Bianchi holster. Considering condition, I paid $400 for it. Did I do alright? Any comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I say you did really good! Great pics also by the way.
There's a sticky about collet bushings you may want to read.
I use gun grease on my barrel and slide groves..but thats personal preference.

Oh, you may want to get a new recoil and firing pin spring.
