Since I stirred up so much with my question on the guide rod,how about this one. Are flared ejection ports really important? The reason I ask is my old colt works just fine without it. Would I notice a difference with it?

Some say it assures a more positive ejection of the fired brass. Others claim it keeps from dinging the brass. There are claims that it helps the ejected cases clear the breech face smoother and aids in putting the fired cases in one pile.

I have 1911's with and without the flared ejection port and they all work fine.

I too have 1911s with and without, and they all work just fine. If your gun works well without a flared ejection port, why mess with success.

If it ain't broke...

With or without, my guns run fine.
