I just got my 8 round wilson mag and I noticed that it does not fit flush. The body itself is about 1/8 longer and the base plate longer too. Is there any reliable 8rnd mags that fit flush?

Ditto what JimV said. the CMC "Premium Matchgrade" mags fit flush. All the more so if you remove the pads (more concealable IMHO).

BTW, aren't all CMCs shooting stars as well? If not, then what's the difference (aside from price that is)?

Nope... CMC makes Shooting Star's, and Power Mag's.

As for Flush mags, Colt's are probably the best, with Packmayr's right behind them, though you could certainly add CMC SS's to the list.

As for the Wilson's, they do offer a "Ultra Thin" base, which is essentially flat, but protrudes just enough to allow you to slam one home fast, without pinching your hand. The Ultra Thin base tends to be my first mag in, and provides me the mental secureness of being able to do a proper Tap/Rack still, without sticking out too far... All my follow-up mags have the 3/8" bases to ensure solid seating.

Personally, I have tried to get away from the Welded Base mags... I just don't care for them, but then, I have been using Wilson/Roger's mags since the early 80's, and I still use those original mags. When you find something that works, it's hard to change.
