Please review the 1911Forum.com Community Rules.

The following are additional rules and guidelines for posting on the forum. Failure to follow these rules or the 1911Forum.com Community Rules can result in the temporary or permanent suspension of your account. Please contact any staff member if we can help with questions. Please use the report feature if you are concerned about another member's content.

For all subforums

1. Discussion of topics with potential legal ramifications -
This forum strongly advises that all laws (local, state and federal) be adhered to, and that members not give out advice that goes against those laws. If you are not sure if something is legal or not, do not post it here. That includes, but is not limited to posting images of illegally altered firearms or making comments or suggestions to others about illegal modifications. Be cautious with discussions regarding the use of deadly force...what may be legal where you live may not be legal everywhere.

2 Off-topic threads - This is a gun discussion forum. Political or other off-topic/barely gun related discussions are not allowed The only section where off-topic discussion is currently allowed is the Premium Members Lounge.

3. Duplicate threads and cross-posting
a. Please place your thread in the proper forum. There are subheadings under each forum's title which describe what subjects it is for.
b. Do not create duplicates of topics already actively being discussed...add your comments to the existing running thread.
c. Topics should be placed in only one sub-forum at a time. Cross-posting the same topic into multiple sections of the forums is not allowed.

4. Firearms and receivers WTS/WTB/WTT - Firearms and receivers are not allowed to be bought, sold, or traded on this forum.
a. If you state that you are "thinking" about selling a gun - that is a for sale ad.
b. If you state that you have two guns, and "one of them has to go, help me decide" - that is a gun for sale ad.
c. If you state "I wonder what this gun is worth if I were to sell it" - that is a gun for sale.
d. If you state "I have a gun for sale on ebay" - that is a gun for sale.

If you are unsure whether your post would be considered a firearm WTS/WTB/WTT, please check with any staff moderator before you post.

5. Do Not Post Grievances - If you have had a bad experience with a pistolsmith, re-finisher, grip maker or whatever, do not post your grievances with the other person here. While your experiences may be as you have said, we may not always have both sides of the story.

6. Old threads and necroposting - Please be careful not to reply to threads that are more than a few months old. Fresh replies to old threads will be deleted. The only exception is if you're the thread starter posting an update to the original topic.

7. Brand bashing - Conversation about ALL firearms is allowed on the 1911forum, particularly in the General Gun Discussion forum:

"Discuss non-1911 firearms and 1911 related questions that DO NOT fit well in the other forums."

Obviously it is best to discuss specific firearms in their subforums where applicable. With that in mind, brand-bashing will NOT BE TOLERATED. If somebody begins talking about Glocks and you absolutely loathe them, then refrain from joining in the discussion. Members with a tendency to bash certain brands just because they don't like them will be considered trolls and treated appropriately.

8. Grammar, spelling, paragraphs, punctuation, chatroom style posting - If you want people to read your posts and take you seriously, please pay attention to these things. The staff has to read all of the content on the site and if we cannot understand what you are saying or find your content routinely not up to standards it is subject to removal along with your account access. That said, it is not up to other members to belittle, harass, or police other members on this item. As with any other issue, if you have a concern about another member's content, please report it. As long as we allow a member to participate on the forum, they should be treated with respect as mentioned in the 1911Forum.com Community Rules.

Regarding foul language, attempts to hide it (such as deliberate misspellings or using special characters like ** to hide some letters) does not make it any more acceptable. No matter how it's spelled, foul language is not welcome here.

9. Zombies, SHTF, end of the world, revolution, etc - These and similar items are off-topic. We do have a disaster preparedness forum for discussion of practical preparations for natural disasters. Discussion/hints/jokes/innuendo advocating violence towards any person, group, or organization will not be tolerated in any way, shape or form.

10. Font sizes, colors, signature - You are required to use the default forum font and color in your posts unless you specifically need to emphasize something. Enlarging or changing font size and such from default only makes your posts more distracting and often difficult to read, and it also makes it look like you're shouting over the other members by making your post stand out above all the others. If you have difficulty seeing text the proper solution is to enable larger fonts in your web browser, which will allow you to see everyone's posts much easier at the same time.

Your signature line must be 5 lines or less. Photos shall not be so large as to be distracting. Font sizes and colors can be changed in signatures as long as they are not distracting. As with all content, this is subject to moderator discretion.

11. Copyrighted material- Posting download links to illegal copies of copyrighted publications or copying and pasting copyrighted material in your posts is not allowed. Anyone who does this intentionally will be permanently banned from the forum.

Additional for specific subforums

12. Members Market/Classifieds/WTB/WTS/WTT -
a. Posts involving items for sale or trade may ONLY be posted in the Classifieds section of this forum
b. Nobody is allowed to post items for sale until they have reached at least 45 constructive posts (not "me too" or "+1" posts).
c. Deliberately padding your post count with junk posts in a deliberate attempt to circumvent the rules will result in suspension of your account.

13. Second Amendment News ONLY
a. The title says it all. Only news items related to second amendment legislation and the enforcement of such can be posted here
b. Political discussion of any other kind is subject to removal and disciplinary action
c. As with all sections of the forum, discussion here is to remain respectful. If you suspect trolls, please report them...don't get pulled under with them.
d. 100 constructive posts are required before you can participate here. Attempts to pad your post count will result in action up to permanent suspension of your account
e. As covered in Forum Posting Guidelines #8, discussion of violence or revolution or the like will not be tolerated

14. Gunsmithing and Troubleshooting
a. If you do not have the skill or experience to give advice, please read and learn instead. Random guesses are not helpful to someone having a problem
b. If someone is regularly providing bad information, please report them.
c. This forum is not for "high level" physics or mathematics theoretical debates

Thank you for helping the 1911Forum be the best it can be!

MEMBERS PLEASE READ: YouTube, etc. links

Dear fellow forum members,

The 1911 Forum Staff has decided that we need to enact a new rule regarding members providing links to their own YouTube videos, Facebook pages, blogs, and other personal websites. Some people are abusing their free use of this forum by using it only to promote their own videos and websites. Therefore we are going to treat this just like the use of our Classified section. You must be a member with 45 or more constructive posts (i.e., not ones saying "+1" or "me too") and be an active, participating member who posts such links only on an occasional basis, such as an average of 10% or less of the time. If you spam us with posts just to get to 45 posts or if you post links as often as you contribute to discussion elsewhere you'll simply be banned without warning and your posts removed.

By the way if you have a personal YouTube Channel or Facebook page you are allowed to include a link in your signature line. We invite members to share their videos and such with us, but please this is a free forum and we don't appreciate people abusing the privilege just so they can make more money off their own websites. Thanks for your understanding.

Posting pictures on the forum

ANYONE is welcome to include pictures with their post as long as it is in good taste and is relevant to the subject matter. However, the following is not permitted:

1. Images containing or suggesting racist, anti-government, or similar "hate" themes.

2. Images containing nude persons or other vulgar or suggestive content, as it may offend some members (particularly those of the opposite gender).

3. Images that are copyrighted yet are being posted here without the author's permission.

4. Those containing captions incorporating foul language.

If you have any questions or comments please feel free to PM any of the administrators. Thanks!
