I have a 1911 slide on order that has a 60 degree x .300" front dovetail cut in it (Got a very good deal on it), but I cant find a lot of front sights that fit the dovetail. Is 60x.300" the same as 60x.290"? I seem to find more in that size and it seems they would be pretty close in size. Also, what front sight height do I need if I want to use it with a 1911A1 kit's rear sight?

Thanks,
Kharn

No. In the world of mill cuts .300" is a lot wider than .290". I know Heinie front sights are .300". The height depends on the rear and the ammo. Put it together and file to zero. If your kit has a rear sight similar to current Colt you will likely have to take a good deal off.

The height should be about the same as the front sight from the kit. Check Brownells.com and you will find a bunch.
