I have a holster from 1980 made by G. Wm. Davis in Arcadia, CA. The model was called "The Practical" as I recall, and it is an incredibly pracatical holster for the 1911.

It is 2 ply with a steel insert design, rides high with a forward FBI cant and is indestuctible as well as very fast with tension adjustments. The steel insert keeps the holster from collapsing with the gun out and re-holstering is a breeze.

I only recall in the current day Mr. Davis making SASS Cowboy holsters.

Does anyone know if he still makes practical leather?

Thanx,

If it's the same guy I'm thinking about, he's now in Chino Valley, AZ. He's got a pretty good website and yes, he still makes practical leather.

I will second anything said good about Gordon and his leather gear. I am still wearing one of his rigs after 25 years. I wore a holster of his for my duty rig also, and it lasted over 20 years. Still have it after retirement. His stuff is the best!!!
