We should thank the manufacturers for making large rifle primers taller than large pistol. Some of you jokers would be shoving large rifle magnums in 45ACP with slow powders....😆
So dies came in and getting ready and screeching halt, no LPP anywhere to be had.
Gutted a few hundred primer pockets with LRP uniformer.

Have 230g copper coated on the way and blue dot, bullseye, cfe to choose from.
The LRP will have to do for now.
Just paper punching.

Any ideas welcome.

Got to get a handle on the picture sizing function. lol

No one giving up primers around here.

It was 0.008 thousands deeper and the LRP's are rated for use at higher pressure . People chasing hi power loads been doing it for years evidently.

I'm only looking for 700-800 fps max.
Nothing near +P .

If it cycles and makes it through a piece of paper at 50, I'm happy.

My only suggestion is to start low and move up slowly. You're in uncharted territory. Not saying it won't work, just can't find any data for it in any of my sources.
I don't think you will ever see a load in any published book. No manufacturers going to condone basterdising brass.

I would go with some of my few remaining SPP or SRP which is the same size but only had a handful out of 300 that were SPP so far.

I did find one thing that worked so far while setting dies, decap and tumble with wax and mineral spirits the carbide dies went smooth.

@snuby642 can you post a pic or two zoomed in on the after reamed/deepened pocket? I'm interested from an educational standpoint.

I've done it, just a few for proof of concept.
I even sectioned one to see that there is still ample case head thickness.
Any chance you took a pic of the sectioned case?

So measured it took 0.008 off both.
On one case the pocket gauge would not even start.
I do this on all my brass not so much can I prove any accuracy gain (I perceive 2%) but less fliers for me.

The big deal to me is primers go in smooth seat below flush every time.
You can see the champher made by the reamer, primers don't hang up.

I hate being on a roll then the dillon hangs on a primer.

Off the cuff, my fear would be mixing them up with actual LPP brass from range p/u's and not seating those all the way next time and getting failures to ignite. Sorting those from standard LPP brass will be a nightmare when all mixed up in range brass, unless you have a private range and can easily keep them separated.

Desperate times do call for extreme measures... I applaud your willingness to make lemonade!
