Hey All

I was just at my dealer, looking for my first 1911. I had gone in thinking I would pick up a Springfield but the shop has a Gold Match II for $799. It looks pristine, no marks anywhere, no wear on the grips and even the mag has almost no wear marks on it. Its a consingment sale, but the shop guy thought it was less than a year old, and was being sold because the owner was upgrading to a Super Match. All the research I had done up to now was on Springfield 1911s (I love my M1A and was coming from a brand loyality perspective).

So, is the price good? And is this a decent choice for a first 1911? Any negative aspects to this model?

Thanks

I got a gold match 2 - it is a great gun. I payed 950 new. so if you think799 it is a good deal- do what you want.
My 2 cents are - I think Kimber's are way better then Springfields - in quality of parts and fit and finish.
I think it is weird someone is upgradeing to a more expensise gun when they never fired the one they have. Sounds a little strange.
