I recently enjoyed a great family get together at Williamson County Gun Club near Carterville/Carbondale, Illinois. My brother is with the Fed. Prison Bureau and my bro.-In-law is retired from the same. Took all of our pistols out and just had a great time.

We got pretty good at hitting bowling pins at 100 yards with 1911 .45's. There was a time in my life when I would not have enjoyed something as simple as that. Good family and good fun. Isn't that what it is all about. :)

As much as I enjoy shooting, it becomes that much more fun when you can arrange to have a good buddy or family member with you. That gets real tough at times with everybody's schedules, but it's well worth it when you can. Makes for great times and memories.

I'm surprised. With all of the gun negativity in portions of Illinoise, I would have thought the berms would have been a whole LOT higher.

I live near the peoplez republik of Boulder (CO) and the lowest berms we have are about three times as high as the ones you were using.

I think that having a good friend at the range with you tends to have things in better perspective. You avoid overly concentrating on only a few things and broaden the scope of discussions, etc.
