Mills Fleet Farm had a sale on a RIA 45 ACP for $100 bucks off. Couldn't resist. This is my 1st 45 ACP. Only had the brown version. Back to the range. Dam 1911 pistols are addictive!

Its a A1 FS is dark earth. Will post some pics when I am back from vacation. Trying to decide on grain of bullet. Thinking 200 gr for a little velocity.

I’ve been reading some posts about issues with hollow points with 45ACP. Is it with particular manufacturers or is it on certain 45 manufacturers? I’ll be starting off with round nose 1st to break it in but then find a good hollow point ammo. Thanks

I have not had issues with hollow points in guns that are within spec or are well broken in. Many 1911's come a bit out of spec and need to wear in a bit to become totally reliable. In my experience, RIA has been in that group.

Starting of with classic ball/round nose and keeping the gun well oiled will help with any break in needs. If you need to get into hollow points sooner, look up 1911 blueprinting or Jerry Kuhnhausen's book. Getting barrel, frame, link, slide, and extractor all working smoothly together will get that 45 eating anything. Most of my RIA 1911's have needed help with barrel to frame fit, that has been the tightest spot for mine.

Enjoy your new Rock, they are great guns!
I’ve had mine a few months and have run 200g SWC; 230g round ball; 230g hollow points; 185g XTP’s. No issue with any. Since new I’ve added Wilson Combat concealed bullet proof series trigger, beavertail safety, springs, and hammer, and fitted bushing. Have also filed/rounded all sharp edges, milled slots on the slide just forward of the ejection port (instead of at front of barrel like everyone else) and a few other things to personal taste. (Made grips from black walnut off my property as well). It’s turned into my favorite pistol.
