Just acquired a 1941 1911A1 and the ole plastic grips ave bowed with age. Thus, the grip screw bushings have pulled out. I thought the bushings were screwed in, but there are no threads in the holes. Just a nice clean hole. The back of the bushing has been staked outward to hold it in place though. How can I repair this without runing the originality?
Try a regular bushing first,if that doesn't work Brownell sells and oversize kit with tap. It will not hamper the value of the gun,its an accepted repair.
