I have a pair of Colt grips on my 1911 but one of the medallion is crooked, so I want to get the medallion out, and reset it. Is this doable at home? Or do I need some professional tools? How do I extract the medallion from existing wood grips? And then next, how do I reset it, with glue?

I think I'd just send the grips back to Colt and have them replace them.

not sure how to get it out, but to replace them you're supposed to use a flexible type instant set glue, like super glue gel.

I've been wondering about that also. You may be able to drill out the stem, but since they are "riveted" into the wood you would need a special tool to install them. Or use an adhesive to glue them in place like some grip mfgs do.
