I am new to 1911s so bare with me:

I can squeeze the grip safety, and start to pull the trigger. Then I release the grip totally, but it does not spring back, and I can then fire the gun.

Is this normal, or should relasing the grip safety always stop the gun from firing?

Thanks
Dave

Dave,
You have deactivated the grip safety once you started pulling the trigger. The grip safety will remain disengaged until you release pressure on the trigger and allow the grip safety to reset itself. This is not a problem unless the grip safety does not reset when you release the trigger. Hope this helps.
