#60’s. Challis grips offers o-rings the are not as thick and I like them much better than the 60’s. But you can go to any hardware store and pick the 60’s up.

I bought a many-lifetimes supply of fish tank air hose, and slice off rings of whatever thickness I need.

^^^^^^I prefer the Challis o rings also. Cheap enough
Yes, their price is fine, about twice the cost per 100 as the 1.5mmx3mm from McMaster-Carr, and the same physical size as well.

Hi Log,

The McMaster-Carr 1.5mmx3mm that I have are thicker than the Challis O-rings that I have.

Never noticed the difference until seeing your post here. Not saying one is better than the other...just that the thickness is not the same.

You don't happen to know the size of the bushing O-Ring do you?

Thanks,

I have no doubt that there is a difference, Challis at one time published the digital size and were close, I made a mention of it to him and he acknowledged that he wasn't aware of those when he had his made, and that they were similar, much more so than say the #60, which is actually a 006, or 1/16"x1/8"x1/4" works as per the purpose, but found them to be bigger than necessary.

I do not have any of the bushing o-rings to compare. Spend some time looking at the metric sizes.

I noticed my "stock" grips don't have rubber o rings...are they necessary? ???
:biglaugh:
No. However many have had grip screws come loose, the o-ring acts as a lock washer. Also if the grip screw contacts the top of the bushing when tightened it can cause the bushing to unscrew with the grip screw, the o-ring prevents this. I know the bushing should be staked, of locked with Loctite, but. Some grips will shift as the grip screw has compressed it, or it was over cut, etc. and if now the grip panel shifts, the o-ring resists this.

So it is an asset, or you could think of it as a new reflector for your bike! :)
