i use it on all of my guns. if it's too rough for you, just take the peice you are going to use, and sand it down a bit with the unused portion. breaks it down nicely, and doesn't eat up your hands as much, while still providing the grip you desire. as long as you clean the area to be covered well, it should not fall off due to oil. i even spray gun scrubber on it and mine stays put. got a 3ft sheet of skateboard tape for 5 bucks. cheap, easy and removable..the way to go.
