I'm having a hard time finding just the right grips for a stainless Colt. I love exotic wood grips, but most of them that I have seen look awesome on blued guns, and less so on a stainless model. I ordered some VZ Grips in blasted black micarta, but the jury is still out on whether I will keep them or not.

Does anyone with a stainless gun have grips that go really well with the stainless finish?

I like plain dark rubber grips on a stainless gun. Or blackwood, if you want to spend the money. The color matches the sights which are almost always black/blued.

I have a stainless Colt Series 70 Repro that I bought VZ grips for, like yours, but I ended up wanting something different myself.
I don't know how much you're willing to spend but I ended up buying a set of 'outer bark' Elephant ivory grips from Nutmeg Sports and they are great looking on my stainless Colt.

Carbon Creations I think is the name of the co., might look good on stainless. I have not seen any in person but the black and gray color of the woven carbon fiber looks good in the pics I have seen.

I have a stainless and the grips that I like the best are either ivory or pearl. For what it's worth.

I have a SW1911 5" Bbl. Stainless Steel - I got the
Guy Hogue Ebony w/palm swell plain - $ 38 ?
I like the look of black on the matte stainless but I
wish GH had a half-checkered option.

The palm swell begins about where the mag
release is then it tapers back to normal just
above the lower grip screw, it fills the RH palm
and the thumb falls into place on the LH side

I also have the Wilson Combat extended slide lock
so the top front of the LH grip panel has been
relieved for clearance.

If you want a pic. I can send a couple via attachment on email
I haven't figured out how to post them here yet.

I like the different man made grip materials on the markets today but on several of my steel frame and nickle frame I really like ebony
hardwood, double diamond, generally with the new magwell cut..
pic here of a 70's nickel with ebony stocks

Here's mine in a couple different grips.

I've got black synthetic stock, Wilson Combat Diamondwood and Esmeralda cocabolo's.

Stock Kimber synthetics

Wilson Combat, Diamondwood full checkered (ya I know, I know. No excuse, but it wasn't loaded. :D )

I know. :D I had them on for a few days before the Esmeralda's showed up. They'll end up back in the for sale section. :D

The blasted black and/or green DO LOOK GOOD on a stainless model. And the more you use them, the prettier they get!

Some great suggestions - I'm still shopping, haven't found the set yet that grabs me by the head and twists.....

I went back to the Guy Hogue site and GH also offers
exotic textures, as an option for synthetic or woods
basket weave, stippling & 6 others

hmmm....
