I am speakng only of the Revolution... not the other models

1. Can other M1911 parts fit the GSR?
2. is it better then a normal M1911?
3. Is it worth the money?
4. Should I trade my SIG P226 + Cash for one?
5. How much money should I buy one for?
6. If I traded how much money should I expect to lose?
7. Is it of the same quality of other SIG Weapons?
8. can you put a more original mag in it? I dislike the one with the tumor on the bottem

I can only answer #5 with any type of authority.

I believe the MSRP on them is $1,049.

I've seen them on Gunbroker from $850 to $930. They should come with two stainless 8rd Novak mags.

A local shop has one for $1,299.00. (seriously)

They are very nice 1911's and have very nice features.

I really like the stippled front of the magwell, the all stainless steel construction and the lack of cheap MIM parts.

I do not like that they still have the gawdawful ugly arsed beavertail. WHY DO YOU STILL NEED A BEAVERTAIL ON A GUN WITH A SHORT RING HAMMER?????? Are people's hands really that fat? The only 1911 that has ever bit me was a Sistema with the WWI style blade hammer. My father's hands are twice the size and it's never bit him once, but it bloodied me everytime. I can shoot spur hammer Browning Hi-Powers and standard spur hammer WWII G.I. grip safety 1911's all day without a scratch.

The Novak night sites are a great addition, though they did look kinda cheap for some reason... like they were made in a factory in China somewhere.. there was plastic hanging around the dots. But then I think we all know quality control is a thing of the past.. so this is really a minor issue. I would buy one for around $1K at a local gunshop if I could handle it and look it over good.

The trigger on the Revolution was much better than the one on the GSR I tried that was sitting right next to it.

I would probaly have the trigger and beaver tail replaced.... But that is a maybe
1. Yes, all 1911 parts should interchange.
2.I don't know what you are referring to as a "normal" 1911, but I personally like the idea the Sig uses no MIM, so yes, because of that I would say it is "better".
3. Abso freaking lutely.
4 You'll have to answer this one. How well do you like your 226, do you have other guns, have you had a 1911 before are all questions to consider.
5. Yes, list is $1049. I paid $899 for mine and it seems like the $900 to 950 range is what these are running for with a little searching.
6. You always lose money on any trade (trust me, I know this well). Without knowing what options are on you 226 or it's condition, I would guess it could cost you as much as $500 with you Sig, but that is a wild guess.
7. Yes, going by my example, the quality is as good as any Sig, or any other non custom gun for that matter, that I've ever seen.
8. Yes, any 1911 mag wil fit. I too hate the style of a Npvak mag, and am using Wilson 47ds and McCormick Powermags with mine.
9. I owned one of the earlier "rail" models and did have several issues with it. But after looking at this Revolution, it took me less than two minutes to make a trade. For the features and the quality, I truly believe you would have to go to a full custom like Nighthawk or Baer to find a better 1911 than this.

Good luck.

Yep. Unless you absolutely must, or for some reason get a semi-fair deal, absolutely DO NOT trade a firearm to a gun dealer for another more valuable one. 96% of the time they will end up having it from you for next to nothing plus the cash you were still going to pay for it in the first place.

I only traded once for a firearm, but it was a pretty good deal that I had to talk my way into. In other words neither of us made any money on it.
if they give me 400+ for it.. I got it for 600... so yeah...
The External extractor is not a std 1911 part.
Nor the Ser 80 screw to hold the plunger, unique to SIG.

The slide is dimensionally internally the same as a 1911
the outside is unique to SIG or Sig esq.

The price?
the vendors that make and made parts for the gun were all hi quality part makers. The Slide is made by SIG, the Gutz are made by well known 1911 vendors and at retail if you add the parts and slide frame and barrel the gun is a very good value.

Two questions:
1. How is the firing pin safety different? (Anybody have pictures?)
2. Will the GSR have problems fitting into holsters?

Lester
The price you pay would depend on where you live in the country. I hear people saying $1000 plus but here in WV my dealer says $829 in Stanless and $859 in nitron finish. Either would be worth trading for but it would depend on how much you like your 226.

I live In maryland.. and I hopew to go price checkign torrmow...
