how do the spray & bake gun finishes such as Gunkote or the Brownells ptf.-molly rate compared to Wilsons, Robar or Birdsong's or the others "Super Coatings" ?

I have used Brownell's spray & bake on a couple of 1911's and a Makarov-don't bother. I bead blasted, parkerized, cleaned in Acetone, warmed the parts applied the finish, and baked all as per instructions, and when done the finish could be flaked off with a fingernail...

That said, I redid the above guns, blasting parking, cleaning and applied Gun Kote with an air brush, and am very pleased with the results. The finish is much more durable and shows no signs of wear.

If I am not mistaken, Gun-Kote is the finish that is Wilson's Armor Tuff and Kimbers Kim-Pro
