Over the last few years I've started to
collect a few nice guns. It reached the
point where I think they should be
insured. Could anyone recommend a
company that insures firearms and
advise me of an approximate cost for
the coverage. Thanks.

I believe the NRA has supplemental coverage for firearms. When you join, you get $1000, then you can get the supplemental(not sure what the premium is) but I think it gives you $10,000 in coverage.

Not sure, though on the numbers, I don't have my NRA documents on me.

Definitely check out the NRA policy. It's called ArmsCare Plus and the rates are based on the number and value of the guns you want insured.

I insured all of my guns through State Farm. They issued me a "personal article policy" and scheduled each gun individually. All of the guns are covered for replacement value or collection value (if the guns aren't replaceable). I basically told them what each gun was worth or what it would cost to replace it and they insured it for that amount. My policy also covers my guns no matter where they are located. If I loose a gun in the field, they buy me a new one (basically). The policy premium depends on the dollar amount insured and there were certain requirements (deadbolt locks, alarm, etc.) that had to be met before a policy was issued.
