When shooting my genuine US GI 1911A1 it spits particles in my face.
What causes this and what can I do to correct it?

Its possible there is to much oil in the chamber,Ive done that already, I'd forgot to swab the barrel and chamber out before i shot and i was pummeled with burning hot little droplets of oil at warp speed. felt like getting sandblasted.
the type of powered being used also can cause something like you described
if your using reloads, that also has allot of debris laying about that looks like pepper.
or lastly, maybe your pistol has sinus issues, for that i recommend flonase
