Asking a question about disabling Grip Safeties on 1911 in this Forum is like opening Pandora's Box, and you will get many opinions, I will start the opinion train with " I don't like it". While there may be a dispute over JMB's thoughts on the matter, people need all the reasonable safe guards that can be applied to any deadly tool, some will say " not me, I don't need to be told what's safeties are needed, the only safety you need is the person behind the trigger". So it's my humble opinion a hundred years of Grip Safeties on the 1911 format should be the clue to leave well enough alone.

Grip safety

I think it depends on the end use of the pistol. I have one that I only use for competition and it is pinned. The ones I have for carry I leave operational.
