I bought this Commander style hammer a while back and found out that the hammer strut pin hole was not in the correct location and work not work in my Hi-Power. Does anyone know why the hole would be in this location. Was this the location at some point in time or did someone just screw up? I've attached a picture of a spur hammer for comparison.

Mr. Camp,
Any insight you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

******, The commander style hammer pictured has the earlier - pre-war strut pin location. This was introduced probably about 1946. You can use this hammer in a later gun, but you'll have to have an early strut to go with it. These are best identified (in addition to being shorter), by a rather pointed end on the threaded tip. The spur hammer pictured has the current strut pin hole location.
