Help me find authentic looking grips for my 1911 GI

I bought a 1911 RIA GI 1911 9mm. I want brown wood or brown plastic grips to replace the stock black plastic grips. I bought a wood pair and plastic set on Amazon, both of which looked cheap and didn't fit without modification so I returned them. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

You can buy original WW2-era grips from Simpson LTD, but they're well-used and expensive for what they are. My suggestion is to keep an eye on Gunbroker or eBay and look for post-WW2 GI contract grips. They're still the real deal and usually much cheaper than WW2-era grips.

you might try Sarco, or Midway, IMA-USA, maybe Brownells, always a chance on Ebay I guess.
Look at PMGgrips on ebay, I just saw wood with the U.S. logo and diamonds
You want the brown plastic G.I. grips. I did the same thing with an RIA years ago. Remington Rand and RIA.

Is this what you are looking for:
Maybe check out these guys too:
A buddy of mine put a pair of these on his and they look slick— may not be what your looking for but they sure look impressive on his gun:
Keep in mind that the grip screw spacing on the RIA FS guns is not your typical 1911 spacing. It is like 1/16 of an inch more spaced apart. You can modify standard 1911 grip panels to fit, but don't expect them to be drop in. Their are companies that make the proper grips with the little tang added that the RIA grips have, you would be better off getting the proper ones to get a cleaner look.
Check this on ebay
"U.S.G.I. Brown Plastic Nylon Grips for the M 1911 A1 Pistol - New Unissued USGI"

Each of the grips has a stock number imprinted on the back 5564062 or 5564063,
different number for each side. $7.95 + shipping.

I have bought from this seller twice. These are the real deal. I put them on my 2007 Rock Island along with an arched MSH to resemble the 1911 that I was issued in 'Nam in 1970.

I found NOS Colt grips on eBay. Perfect fit, and a bonus was some guy on Facebook getting bent out of shape because I put Colt grips on an RIA! 😝
