I don't think I ever answered this.
@rustygunner
There was this motorcycle forum where Rus and I happened to mention to each other that we were owned by 1911's.
Well... i think i Googled "colt walther 1911-22 upgrades" and y'all popped up! And no... they're not ALL true 1911's, but they're how i "ended up here".

New Member from WNY...carried a Colt for over 40 yrs...OMG. Just purchased a RIA in 10mm. All's Good. Stay Safe and Vigilant...
How I found this forum is easy… Google. Why I found this forum is a long story.

Here it goes…

So as my screen name would suggest, I‘m a Para Ordnance fan… though I own only one.

When I was younger (34) I wanted to get a small frame 1911 for cc. I just wasn’t sure I wanted to carry CnL. A week after pondering this a commercial came on during my favorite hunting show advertising the new Para LDA.

Within 2 weeks I tracked down a .45 Para Carry, and I was in love.

That was 06, I still have it and love it. Just one problem…

2 weeks ago upon inspection I realized the slide cracked.

Now upon doing research I’m pretty much committed to just putting the new slide I have on the way and just sending it down the road on trade. I like to shoot my firearms, there are no safe queens in my house (that would be my Dad)🙄. So if it’s just going to crack again, (research says it will) why keep it.

This forum is where I’ve done most of that research.

However, now it’s on to other things. I still love a sub-compact 1911, so a Colt Defender will probably be in my future. I’ve considered all the major players, and I like the Colt. I shot one years ago that someone had at my club, and it was a nice shooting piece, or as nice as a sub-compact can be.

I also would like to get a full size 1911, and I’ll admit the long slide versions are pretty tempting for range days. I just like the way they look, never shot one.

Finally the other thing I’d like to do and never have done is build one. I was thinking of buying a cheap G.I. model and tricking it out.

I’m sure there are plenty of enablers here that would help me spend my money. I’m on plenty of other firearm forums. Gun forums and enablers seam to go hand in hand. 🙂

On a side note, and for the record, I’m not a 1911 snob, or Para snob for that matter. I like other stuff too as my first pistol was a Sig P228. Got that as my first firearm when I was 21 back in 1993… still have it and love it.

There will probably be a P220 Legion in my future as well... Great guns.

Anyway, that’s the whole story and then some.

I look forward to the fun on here.

Rick

New to the 1911A1 so I used google in order to research an inheritance.

You wouldn’t by chance know Aaron Casebeer, or Tom Wales down that way—I worked with both of them at Cook Inlet?
I do not think I know either of them. Do they work for Cook Inlet fishery or work on the platforms in the inlet?
