How to Protect the Parkerized Finish on the RIA 1911

Next week, I will be picking up a Rock Island Armory (RIA) 1911. One reviewer noted that the finish, especially the slide, gets scuffed up pretty easily. Is there anything I can do to reduce or eliminate that? Thanks

I keep the Plastic Holsters for the plastic pistols.
All the rest get The Full Leather treatment.
I am looking for a good Holster maker nearby me in Aiken SC or Augusta GA.

Look up Smokewagon leathers, Keith is a good guy and has built 2 for me already, he will build you what you want.
you dont want to. You want it to show wear and let some metal shine through, like the ww1 and ww2 parkerized 1911s that look so awesome today.

To what temperature do you heat the pistol? And do you heat the whole pistol, or just the parts exposed to wear?
