I am looking for recomendations on (1) indoor ranges in northern Illinois that offer membership programs - or otherwise accomodate competitive (pistol) shooters; (2) defensive pistol instuctors / schools in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana.

I don't know of any in Northern Illinois but I know of Darnells outside of Bloomington.

The Outdoorsman in Winthrop Harbor might be the one that can accomodate you. Tel. # 1-847-746-1331. We used to shoot IPSC (non-sanctioned) every Tuesday night but the guy quit doing it now (' got married). I know some people still hires the range every Sunday afternoon, maybe you can join them. They have a nice range, BTW. Good luck!
