I only shoot this powder in cast bullet rifle loads, but my testing so far shows no velocity difference between 12 year old Unique, 2 year old Unique, and the latest batch of "improved" Unique.

Although I've always considered it a filthy power for handgun use (although it can be used for darn near anything), I had no complaints with it in rifles in its unimproved form. It does appear to be slightly cleaner burning in my rifles and this may show up better in handguns.

I have a can of the old Unique and a can of the new stuff. I think the new stuff is slightly cleaner, but not by much. It is still a sooty powder.
