Hello everyone! I was hoping I could gain some insight on a 1911 I was recently given by my late grandfather. I can’t seem to find any information about it in google.

I have attached a photo of the gun. The slide is a Colt MK 4 series 70 with a Para Ordinance double stack frame. Any information on the history of this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all very much.

Para Ordinace's first product was a frame kit. You got only a receiver, magazine, magazine catch, trigger, and grips. The advertising was: "Put your .45's parts on our frame and get twice as many shots."

Either Grandpa "upgraded" his Colt or bought some Colt parts, some aftermarket to assemble a "wide body."
