Hello guys and gals. I'm new to this form and I'm hoping I can find a answer about the 1911 I got from my dad. When I got it, I noticed that it had no front or rear sights. I have taken it to three places trying to find sights for it and no one can find anything. The notch for the rear sight is huge. In all the pictures I've found online, none of them have a real sight recess this big. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Contact Wayne Novak and his company in Parkersburg, WV. His gun smiths will be able to help you out and maybe re-install a sight that fits this cut. I live nearby and have had them do lots of work for me and stop and chat with Wayne once in a while.

Or an old, low-mount Micro, the dovetail for which was the "basis" for the low-mount Novak, but don't know how interchangeable they may be.

I'm more inclined to believe that's what it is.

I am betting Low Mount Micro, paying a hundred bucks to machine for a different fixed sight is a relatively recent fad. But it has sure made Wayne a lot of money.

If so, you are at the mercy of eBay, Micro has been out of business for years.
LOW mount Micro, there is a standard Micro that will not fit.
