I was about to install thin grips on my 1911, and I know I'll have to replace the bushings. Is there a special tool available to help stake the new bushings in? If so, does anyone have a Brownells part #?

If you have any other hints or advice on installation of the thin grips, just let me know.

Thanks.

Brownells has a grip bushing bit that fits a magnetic tip screwdriver. It makes removing them very easy. Look in their catalog in the screwdriver section.

Why stake them in place? A little blue loctite on the threads will hold them fine. Whenever you detail strip the gun for cleaning, just take that time to re-check them and make sure they are still snug.

This way, they'll be easier to remove later on if you want to change them for any reason. Just my .02
